K&F SEQUENZA 10Line Array System
For Kling & Freitag, the ProLight + Sound 2008 stands for new products. K&F plans to use this opportunity to present three new products in Frankfurt, underscoring its position as a supplier of professional sound systems in the premium segment.
Above all, the premiere presentation of the K&F Line Array to the general public is being anxiously awaited. After extensive research, K&F has developed a Line Array that unifies – without compromises – aspects of modern Line Array technologies into a premium quality full-range system. Every element is equipped with two exclusive 10” chassis and a tweeter unit with three 1” neodymium drivers with the most modern design. Two versions of the vertical 7° coverage system – with 77° and 100° horizontal coverage - will be offered; they are combinable with one another, depending on use. While using three patents, K&F was able to significantly improve the rigging and especially the acoustic performance, as compared to customary constructions. It is the unique combination of a multitude of well thought-out details that makes this novel Line Array system a high-end product.
Aside from that, Kling & Freitag will introduce a further innovation: the smallest speaker in their product range. The passive 2-way speaker is equipped with a novel 5” bass chassis and a 1” dome driver with a coupled ‘Waveguide’.With its uniform and wide coverage, the system is ideally suited for near field applications. The sound quality, bass playback, and performance of the compact speaker enable usages as a main, delay, or surround system without supplemental use of a subwoofer, for example at conferences or trade fairs or for theatre, AV, and gastronomy uses. The elegant and extremely flexible tilt bracket mounting has earned extra attention, as it allows for extreme adjustment angles of up to 180° vertically and horizontally. While designing the speaker, the developers consistently considered the implementation of typical Kling & Freitag character traits: excellent sound quality, level stability, and ‘sound compatibility’ to existing Kling & Freitag systems. In addition to the excellent price-performance ratio, the 16 ohm impedance and the possibility to operate the speakers without an additional system controller give these speakers a clear price advantage. For high-power uses and highest-possible operating safety, the speaker is intended for use with the digital system controllers K&F CD 24 and K&F CD 44.
As the first power amplifier from Kling & Freitag to do so, the newly developed amplifier introduces the concept of an installation amp tailored to meet the demands of modern fixed installations. The two-channel system amplifier with a 19” format and 2 RU is based on linear servo power amplifier circuits with a conventional power supply unit and delivers 1 kW of output power at 4 ohms. Aside from the integrated DSP technology, there is a multitude of interfaces available for controlling and monitoring. It is possible to configure the system using a newly developed Ethernet based K&F remote system. EN-conform protocols and substantial monitoring functions (i.e. load monitoring) complete the concept.

CHINA: The Dalian Institute of International Business is a privately-funded high school, accommodating around 6,000 students from all around China and overseas. Founded in 1997, DIIB is a modern facility, which boasts 30 hectares of campus area in size and 120,000 square metres of building area consisting of various well equipped laboratories, computer rooms and gymnasia. When a new multipurpose theatre was constructed, a high-quality sound system was regarded as essential.
To meet the requirements of the school’s own production as well as for use by outside bodies, a Kling & Freitag loudspeaker system was installed by contractor Melody. ‘The representatives at Melody provided a demo system and arranged an audition in our theatre, for which the sound quality is just fabulous,’ one of the Members of the Board commented ‘I think it’s even better than our municipal theatre. As we plan to rent our theatre out for commercial production, it’s an obvious choice for us. Melody is very well known in our province and was able point to many reference projects in our city, so we know that we can trust them.’www.avcn.com
After a construction time of just about one year, the heart of the Olympic Centre, the Shenyang Olympic Sports Center Stadium, is finished. In addition to the stadium with 60,000 seats, the Olympic Centre also includes a sports arena with 10,000 seats, and an indoor swimming pool and tennis court with 4,000 seats each. The Shenyang Olympia Centre is one of the five event venues where the 29th Olympic Games will take place. When it came to the sound concept, the stadium planners were discriminating and decided upon products “Made in Germany”. The Chinese distributor Melody Development was successful in convincing the planners with products from Kling & Freitag. Amongst others, over 100 Kling & Freitag systems were installed, including forty-two Line 212’s, eight CA 1515’s, and two CA 1201M’s.
The Shenyang Stadium already had the opportunity to prove its Olympic capabilities in July 2007. Within the framework of the test event for the 2008 Olympic Games “Good Luck Beijing”, the qualifying games for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2007 took place here.
The Shenyang Olympic Sports Center Stadium is one of several stadiums in China that is equipped with products from Kling & Freitag. A further project is the stadium of the Wuhan Sports Center. It is one of the largest and most modern stadiums in China and was one of the most important venues for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2007. Germany’s women’s football team triumphed over North Korea here to advance to the semi-finals. With their victory at this year’s World Cup, the team proved their champion qualities by achieving this coveted title as the first in history to do so without having conceded a single goal.
At first sight, products from Kling & Freitag and women’s football do not seem to have much in common. But there is one thing that connects both: Quality “Made in Germany”.
