Description of Self Powered
- 'SP' - Speaker Systems with integrated Power Amplifier
 

'SP' denotes a new series of high-quality self-powered speaker systems. Based upon selected K&F 'CA Series' 'Line Series' and 'SW Series' speaker systems, the 'SP' models are equipped with the very latest integrated driver and power amplifier technology.  The integrated, fan-free active system electronics contain one or two highly efficient digital 1 kW Class D power amplifier and take care of the system specific controller functions. Weighing only 2.5 (4,5) kg, this module replaces heavy equipment like racks with amplifiers, controllers and speaker cables.
The full-range systems and subwoofers of the 'SP Series' are fully compatible in terms of sound with corresponding models of the 'CA', 'Line' and 'SW' Series. All 'SP Series' speakers can be combined with each other due to the integrated phase optimisation. Applications with the optional system controller K&F C2 or with an Audio DSP are also possible. In this case, the filter section of the 'SP' speakers can be bypassed with a concealed switch in the control section. The elaborate limiter section still ensures high operation safety in this mode. If the active full-range systems are to be combined with the corresponding passive systems, we recommend using the C2 controller. Furthermore, the C2 controller provides pre-sets like ‚top low-cut‘ for clusters and ‚bass boost‘ for stand-alone applications.
‚Plug & play‘ makes the speaker‘s set-up easy: the full-range signal can be linked from the 'SP' top speakers to additional subwoofers. If necessary, the parallel-connected 'SP‘ subwoofers can enhance the bass reproduction while the active ‚SP‘ circuit optimises the phase response.
The full-range systems have not only an integrated amplifier module and switchable filters but also a passive crossover, enabling the user to take full advantage of K&F‘s passive technology (all-pass filter, protection circuits). The subwoofers of the 'SP Series' are equipped with an additional active 110 Hz high-pass filter with 24 dB / octave, which defines the crossover frequency.

The 'SP' concept:

The driver circuit of the full range system is designed for single operation or along with a subwoofer with 'SP' option. In this mode of operation, the frequency range of the subwoofer is limited by an integrated electronic fi lter circuit. A high pass fi lter protects the full range system from subsonic signals and is matched by correcting fi lters at the phase response of each subwoofer.

For further functions, i.e. cluster and monitor equalization, bass and high boost, or 2-way active operations (to increase the maximum level), external controllers can be used (i.e. K&F C2). In this mode of operation, the internal filters of the utilised 'SP' model can be deactivated by a switch.
